Sometimes I feel like the questioner, inarticulate, mangling words. And sometimes I am the one tossing those words in the air to see where they land. I love your capture of this, especially these last three stanzas--their rhyme, their structure, feels almost Shakespearean in nature. And yes, it is work, to get it right, to make it sit correctly, pleasingly, on the page, and to put in, draw down, the shadows. They are squirmy, resistant things.
